I called Andy Martin of Unit in an email recently a “former punk”, saying how glad I was to know the more kind-of-authentic-people in that context like him. Rebellion als Konventionalismus, Veränderung als Veränderung, zum Beispiel … Einfach von „Punk“ zu sprechen und damit verschiedene Zweige zu meinen, die aus einer „konformismuskritischen Bewegung“ hervorgegangen sind, versäumt, zwischen beinahe gegensätzlichen Richtungen zu unterscheiden, die sich über die [Jahre und] Jahrzehnte entwickelt haben: mit anderen Worten, vergleiche einfach den Aktivismus (oder Nicht-Aktivismus) jeglicher Art von Punk … es ist irgendwie lächerlich, alles DIY-mäßige, sozialkritische, unabhängige und so weiter auf eine Handvoll Musiker zurückzuführen und in einer ständigen Stimmung der Selbstbeweihräucherung herumzuschweben, wenn man denn “dabei war”. I should basically return to my old NiceSwine-Blog to write in English, but this is personal talk so I am just gonna create this space for myself for it, and yes in English.
