The Parallel Universe of the various Punks

Screenshot https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=122167801346334658 [03.06.25]; German punks social media: a sample, clique of old punks who identify with the Hessian town Frankfurt am Main, holding the idea that punk was better and the real deal in the early years, and that later everything tended to act way to rough and that seemed to not have anything to do with what they hold to be the original style, idea, and so forth.

The Parallel Universe of the various Punks

It’s ridiculous when some people in germany keep acting like punk after 1980 wasn’t as much comfy rockism heritage as they wanted, and keep yearning for „old punk“ Goodmorning, but after Crass gladly nothing could get away with any easy listening anymore.

1978 https://www.discogs.com/de/master/10022-Crass-The-Feeding-Of-The-Five-Thousand ; https://crass.bandcamp.com/album/the-feeding-of-the-5000 > „Feeding Of The 5000 is the debut album by Crass, recorded 29th October 1978.“

These people listened to crass, but couldn’t digest it the way they wished to.

And, those same people didn’t pay much attention to an array of bands who took more special and unique courses in their works in the end 70ies, that is unless they were already known and recommended in their circles great track i.e. > Urinals – Black Hole https://www.discogs.com/de/master/308822-The-Urinals-Another-EP ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKLAO6OXQ0I

So virtually the same people who might have missed out on the Epileptics later missed out on Flux of Pink Indians and now claim we are talkling not about developments in punk but two contrasting stories. The Epileptics > https://punk77.co.uk/band/the-epileptics/ later Flux of Pink Indians.

The politicalness in punk evolved, the sounds logically mirrored that.

Or did I miss our on anything? No I guess it’s as simple as that.

Also: some older people of the young might have been more into the dominating style/s of their time, while the slightly younger ones could pick up on minority threads, who brought forth newer or more different conglomerats – i.e. some that had formed with much more tonal expressions than just being some shrill direction of a handful of predecessing bands and glam rock.

Instead of a linearity, various aspects became prominent, and foremostly: music eventually managed to speak politics [ … and took responsibility for a society that managed to destroy the world by looking reality into it’s face … ] instead of limiting creativity to an extentsion of the consumerist crap that eventually did take over all genres, thanks to mass audiences that simply need their consumerim thing.

The good stuff is that there are bands that kept going their activism through punk and related thungs like hardcore, etc. And there are bands, even in the popular area, who pick up on subjects of interest instead of just wrapping more old ignorance stuff in fanciful decorum.
